Radish Sambar 


Ingredients:


2 medium size radish

1 tomato

1 onion

4 garlic

4 curry leaves

3 tbsp toor dal/pigeon pea lentils

1 tsp turmeric powder

Salt as per taste

1 tsp tamarind plum

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1 pinch of asafetida

Cilantro leaves 



Preparation:

Step 1: Rinse toor dal in water.

Step 2: Add dal, sliced tomato, 4 garlic,4 curry leaves, 1/4 tsp of turmeric and 1 tsp of oil in pressure cooker.

Step 3: Add 2 cups of water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.

Step 4: Next, open the lid and lightly mash the cooker dal.

Step 5: Further heat 2 tbsp of oil in pad. Add mustard seeds, cumin, 3 curry leaves, 2 ginger and chopped onion.

Step 6: Fry for a while and add asafetida. Then add sliced radish. And sauté for a while.

Step 7: Then add 1 cup of water. And sprinkle salt.

Step 8: Cook over medium flame till the radish slices are cooked.

Step 9: Next remove the lid and add mashed dal followed by tamarind plum.

Step 10: Further boil for 5-6 minutes. Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve it.
